Political campaigning as performance art.

The Rachel Maddow Show: Herman Cain, the practical joke no one is getting
Eugene Robinson, Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist for the Washington Post, talks with Rachel Maddow about her new thesis that Herman Cain is actually a performance artist punking America.

Nice try but no one listens to Maddow.

As for Herman quoting the song "The Power of One', it's got good lyrics. He probably just liked Donna Summers singing it.

You must always remember...
Life can be a challenge...
Life can seem impossible...
It's never easy, when so much is on the line...

But you can make a difference...
With courage you can set things right...
The gift to dream and make dreams real,
Is yours and mine...

The power of one!
Begins with believing!
It's starts in the heart...
Then flows through the soul...
And changes the world!
Imagine how life will be...
When we stand in unity...
Each of us holds the key...
To the power of one!

Each of us is chosen...
There's a mission just for you...
Just look inside...
You'll be surprised...
What you can do...

The power of one!
Begins with believing!
It's starts in the heart...
Then flows through the soul...
And changes the world!
Imagine how life will be...
When we stand in unity...
Each of us holds the key...
To the power of one!

Then one by one...
We can make the world...
A much better place!

The power of...
ONE!
Begins with believing!
It's starts in the heart...
Then flows through the soul...
And changes the world!
Imagine how life will be!
When we stand in unity!
Each of us holds the key...
It's inside of you and me!
Each of us holds the key...
To the power of one!

The power of one...

Giggle I listen to Rachel and rather like her actually Smile

If Cain isn't a performance artist he seems like a scam artist to me personally. He is something else...lol.

I can't stand Maddow. Don't listen to her or watch her show.

Just watched Cain's debate with Newt. Actually it was more of a discussion of topics. Quite good.

I don't know why you call him a scam artist. I like him. His bio is very impressive. He and Newt would make a good team.

Well, I make it a personal policy not to argue politics, but as I said, my first choice would be the performance art option. I think he will sell books and obviously can speak, so he will make plenty of money. He strikes me intellectually as the male equivalent of Palin, but to each his own. I guess we'll just see what further unfolds for them all:)

Check out his bio under the other thread. The man is not dumb.

So did you vote for Obama?

I tried to vote for him, Synch, and just couldn't do it. The husband did though, which means we cancelled each other out I guess. Giggle I still like Obama, much to the chagrin of friends. I don't agree with him on many things, but I like him. I haven't said that about a president since Reagan. By that I mean I would have invited either of them into my home and enjoyed the conversation. I have a lot of respect for the first lady as well and how well she has handled the absurd which all first ladies endure.

Yes, I like him as well, and although I don't agree with everything he's done either I would enjoy chatting with him and Michelle as well. I am just very glad that I don't have to have his job, too. pale

Well, I didn't vote for him but I don't hate the guy either. I never understood the hatred toward Bush. Still don't. The man and the job should be separate things.

My hatred for Bush stems from his inability to compromise or at least show an understanding of his
opponent. He was you either agree with everything I do and say or you lose.
My sentiment with Gingrich is pretty much the same as Bush. I haven't an opinion on Cain just yet, he may have potential?

I didn't see him that way. I do see Obama that way. He had his famous "I won!" moment.

I guess it depends on if they are from the group you like and if you want to see them as the good guy or the bad guy. Every president has good point and bad points. I guess if you let the talking points of each side drive you nuts, you won't ever figure out what is right.

I liked Clinton, I liked Bush and I like Obama. I don't agree with their politics on various issues. Obama does lean too much to socialism for my tastes, but as we all know, NOTHING gets done in Congressland.
