I just picked this thread for the heck of it. Here is my guitar hero Doc Watson and his son Merle doing down yonder. Both are playin that big square dance in the sky now. This is Doc on one of his best days.

Thank Cage Gus. He is the one who introduced me to Doc Watson. He definitely was a national treasure.

Clap Clap Clap Clap Clap

I was curious about when Merle died and looked him up, found this http://merlefest.org/Merle/ . He was an interesting man. I liked what he had to say about getting right with God. Three weeks before his accident his Dad (Doc) said to him "Son, I know I’m the last person in the world that’s worthy to talk to you about this, but how is it between you and God?” Merle said “Dad, you don’t have to go to church to make it right. I’ve been on my knees in the woods, and I’ve made my peace with God, and if I have to die, I’m not afraid.” I just thought that was pretty cool and had to share it. I am sure Doc was grateful he had mustered the courage to ask his son that question after his son's tractor accident.

Wow, that guy with the missing fingers is awesome! My girlie just started guitar lessons and gets frustrated, but she was impressed when she saw that. She said guess if you really want to do something badly enough and practice you can learn. Thanks for posting that for inspiration! Clap Clap

Yes sir. Early childhood. I saw a few interviews with him and he considered his blindness a blessing.
